Born on June 28,1944 Amma started learning music at an early stage from both her Parents.At the age of 7 she started to learn music from A.Subramaniya Iyer (Grand son of Umayalpuram Sundara Bhagavathar ) and later from Kadalur S.Venugopala Iyer, a renowned Vocalist. She started giving kucheries in and around Trichy at the very young age of 15.
She taught music at NLC School,Neyveli for 38 years(1965-2002).She is a regular at AIR Pondicherry for the past 40 years. |

Sri O S Tiagarajan (OST)

Born on 3rd April 1947, OST is the son of OV Subrahmanyam, a renowned vocalist. OST himself learnt from his father and then went on to attend
the Sangita Bhooshanam course at Annamalai University and later he trained under TM Tyagarajan and Lalgudi Jayaraman.
This year OST gets the Tamizh Isai Vendar from Kartik Fine Arts. For a long time OST worked as an accounts officer at Shalimar Paints which he quit to
take up music as a full time profession. His brother OS Arun is a rising vocalist. OS has a racy vocal style with long korvais and excellent sruti suddham. His style is original and he brings to the fore many rare and unknown compositions of great composers
